Mayor Leo Bezerra allocates R$1.1 million to 23 child‑and‑adolescent NGOs in João Pessoa

Mayor Leo Bezerra of João Pessoa confirmed a municipal transfer of R$1.1 million to 23 NGOs that work on child and adolescent protection, promotion and rights. Each organization will receive up to R$50,000 from the Municipal Fund for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (FMDCA) to support projects against child labour, sexual exploitation and to expand education, sport, culture and technology initiatives.

The funding was formalised in a signing ceremony at the Casa da Paz Maria de Nazaré community centre. The mayor said, “Nosso objetivo é aprimorar continuamente os serviços municipais, promovendo a empatia e a compreensão entre todos.” Officials said the programme will be monitored by the municipal council for the rights of children and adolescents (CMDCA) to ensure effective implementation.
