Mayor Leo Bezerra to deliver modular school in João Pessoa in August, adding 1,200 seats

Mayor Leo Bezerra announced that the new municipal Escola Tércia Bonavides will be completed in August in the Valentina Figueiredo neighborhood of João Pessoa. The expansion adds 16 new classrooms, creating over 1,200 new student seats and 32 additional class groups.

The project uses an off‑site modular construction system with thermo‑acoustic panels. The mayor said, “We will deliver a modern public facility built with innovative engineering techniques, which will serve as a model for future interventions in João Pessoa.” The approach reduces construction time by up to 80%, cuts water use by about 90%, lowers waste generation by 70%, and improves energy efficiency by keeping interiors up to 5 °C cooler, leading to a roughly 50 % lower operating cost compared with conventional building methods. Secretary Luciana Dias added, “This reform includes the construction of 16 new classrooms… a sustainable construction aligned with environmental standards and an efficient execution schedule.”
