Mays Landing fatal crash involving stolen vehicle triggers investigation

Two people, identified as Robert Barr Jr., 54, and Alice Stilwell, 67, were killed in a head-on collision in Mays Landing, New Jersey, on Saturday morning. The crash occurred near the intersection of Route 50 and Third Street when a stolen vehicle struck their car.

Authorities report that the stolen vehicle had been taken from Longport and was being pursued by Hamilton police before the collision. Four individuals, including 18-year-old Nayshaun Brown and three juveniles, face charges including conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, joyriding, eluding, and theft by receiving a stolen motor vehicle.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability (OPIA) is investigating the incident. Under state law, the Attorney General’s Office is required to investigate any death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in an official capacity or while a person is in custody.
