Mazatlán mayor launches pet sterilization truck and pledges rural water, works, security

The Mazatlán municipal government will operate a mobile sterilization unit on July 3, 2026 at Isla de la Piedra, offering free spay/neuter services for dogs and cats from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The initiative seeks to control the pet population, prevent abandonment and improve public health in the community.

At a meeting chaired by interim mayor Minerva Osuna Zavala, representatives of the eight districts and 64 sub‑municipalities presented demands for potable water, infrastructure projects and stronger security in rural areas of Mazatlán. The mayor committed to tracking each request, announced a follow‑up session, and promised concrete actions to address these needs.
