Mazatlán reports increase in violence against women

In Mazatlán, the Municipal Institute for Women (Immujer) has reported an increase in violent incidents against women during August and September. Director Ana Marcela Herrera López confirmed that 12 cases were recorded in August, with more than seven cases reported so far in September.

Authorities noted that while these incidents are being investigated, they cannot yet be officially classified as feminicides, as the State Attorney General's Office must first determine if they meet the legal criteria. Immujer is coordinating with security forces and specialized units to provide psychological support and accompaniment to the affected families.
