Mazda and Lexus unveil 2026 model line‑up in Japan

Mazda announced a major 2026 rollout aimed at accelerating its electrification strategy. The company will introduce five hybrid, five plug‑in hybrid and three pure‑electric models in Japan, Europe, the US, China and ASEAN. New releases include a fully revised lightweight passenger car FLAIR (January 15), an updated SCRUM commercial truck (February 12), refreshed CX‑60 and CX‑80 cross‑over SUVs (both March 19) and a full‑model‑change third‑generation CX‑5 slated for May 21, all featuring redesigned exteriors, advanced safety systems and improved drivetrain efficiency.

Lexus revealed its eighth‑generation ES sedan for a 2026 Japanese launch, positioning the model as a challenger to the SUV‑dominated market. The new ES offers both battery‑electric (ES350e and ES500e) and hybrid (sixth‑generation HEV) powertrains, with a 74.7 kWh battery delivering over 600 km range for the BEV versions. Design cues draw from the LF‑ZC concept, while interior upgrades include larger digital displays and a cleaner layout. The model targets a spacious cabin, enhanced quietness and a balance of sporty yet refined driving dynamics, aiming to reinvigorate the sedan segment.
