Mazda unveils new CX-6e electric SUV and third-generation CX-5

Mazda is rolling out significant updates to its SUV lineup, including the launch of the all-electric CX-6e and the third-generation CX-5.

In New Zealand, the CX-6e electric SUV is set to arrive in late 2026, starting at $58,990. The Takami grade features a 78kWh LFP battery providing a 468km WLTP range and supports 200kW DC fast charging. The model introduces digital side mirrors using OLED displays to improve visibility and aerodynamics.

The third-generation CX-5 is also being introduced with major updates to design, space, and technology. In Taiwan, the new CX-5 will be priced from NT$949,000, featuring a 2.5L engine and standard i-ACTIV AWD. In Japan, the model is expected to start around 3.3 million yen, utilizing a 2.5L e-SKYACTIV G hybrid system.

Technological advancements across the new models include the integration of Google services, such as Google Maps and Google Assistant, and the use of the new MAZDA E/E ARCHITECTURE+ electronic platform. The new CX-5 offers a larger interior and updated Kodo design language, while the CX-6e emphasizes a 'Soulful Futuristic Modern' aesthetic developed through collaboration between European and Japanese design teams.
