Mazda CX‑5 third‑gen launch in Japan exceeds sales target with over 10,000 orders
Mazda announced that the third‑generation CX‑5, launched in Japan on 21 May, received more than 10,000 orders by 21 June, far surpassing its monthly sales plan of up to 2,000 units. The new model, the third in the CX‑5 line‑up, arrives nine years after the previous full redesign and features a larger body, updated interior, and a new 2.5‑litre direct‑injection gasoline engine paired with a mild‑hybrid system (M‑Hybrid). It is also the first Mazda sold in Japan to run on E10 fuel. The redesign emphasizes “Wearable Gear” design language, a panoramic roof, and expanded cabin space, aiming to blend sportiness with everyday practicality.
