Mazda launches 2026 CX-5 SUV in Australia and 2026 Mazda3 hatchback in the United States

Mazda Australia announced that the 2026 generation CX-5 will launch with a conventional 2.5‑liter petrol engine and six‑speed torque converter, without a hybrid option, to keep costs down for buyers. The company said a hybrid version is planned for a later date, with the United States expected to be the first market for that model.

In the United States, Mazda introduced the 2026 Mazda3 hatchback, equipped with a 2.5‑liter SKYACTIV turbocharged engine delivering 227 hp and featuring an AWD system, a 10.25‑inch touchscreen, and a range of safety technologies. The hatchback is positioned as a spacious, fuel‑efficient alternative to SUVs, with an official fuel‑economy rating of 26.4 mpg combined.

Both launches are part of Mazda’s broader strategy to refresh its model lineup while balancing performance, cost, and emerging electrification plans.
