Mazda launches new Roadster S sportscar and sees record CX-5 orders in Japan

Mazda announced a refreshed Roadster lineup on 26 June 2026, with the entry‑level S model priced at ¥2,959,000 (incl. tax) and equipped with a 1.5‑litre SKYACTIV‑G engine, rear‑wheel drive, a 6‑speed manual gearbox and a weight of just 1,010 kg. The S version adds a new Zinc Green Metallic paint and a 16‑inch forged alloy wheel, while the optional PS special specification incorporates Brembo ventilated disc brakes, Bilstein suspension and other performance upgrades. The updated Roadster is scheduled to go on sale in early September 2026.

The new third‑generation Mazda CX‑5, launched on 21 May 2026, quickly exceeded its monthly sales target, reaching over 10,000 orders by 21 June – more than five times the planned 2,000 units. The high‑spec L trim accounts for 65 % of bookings, driven by the popular sport‑tan interior and a special “Rhodium White Premium Metallic” paint. The model features a 15.6‑inch Google‑integrated touchscreen HMI, enlarged cabin dimensions, and a 2.5‑litre direct‑injection gasoline mild‑hybrid powertrain, replacing the previous diesel option. Mazda highlights the larger interior space, family‑friendly door openings and enhanced driving dynamics as key factors behind the strong demand.
