Mazda partners with Changan for new electric vehicle models

Mazda is increasingly relying on its partnership with the Chinese manufacturer Changan to navigate the electric vehicle transition. The upcoming CX-6e SUV is based on the Mazda EZ-60, a project developed through the Changan Mazda joint venture.

The CX-6e features a rear-axle electric motor producing 190 kW (258 HP) and 290 Nm of torque, powered by a 78 kWh LFP battery. It offers a WLTP range of up to 484 km with 19-inch wheels and supports 195 kW DC fast charging, capable of reaching 10% to 80% charge in approximately 24 minutes.

The EZ-60 platform showcased at the Chengdu Auto Show includes advanced driver assistance systems utilizing LiDAR, radar, and multiple cameras to support over 200 driving scenarios. The interior emphasizes a digital-first design, featuring a 26.45-inch 5K resolution screen and large head-up displays. The model is expected to be available in both fully electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.
