Mazda Roadster evolution: From NC platform to ND Pure Sport edition

Mazda's Roadster series continues to evolve through distinct engineering approaches across different generations. The NC generation utilized a high-rigidity platform derived from the RX-8, featuring a specialized aluminum suspension and a 2.0L MZR engine designed for a 50:50 weight distribution to enhance cornering responsiveness.

The current ND generation has introduced a new special edition called ‘PS’ (Pure Sport). This model focuses on refining driving pleasure through weight reduction and chassis tuning rather than raw power increases. Key upgrades include lightweight RAYS wheels, Brembo brake calipers, and Bilstein dampers with a unique tuning that balances spring rate and damping force to maintain road compliance.

Additionally, Mazda has addressed new exterior noise regulations by refining the intake and exhaust systems. Instead of merely reducing volume, the company has optimized sound quality, using induction sound enhancers to ensure a natural engine note that responds to driver input.
