Mazda unveils 2026 CX-5 with larger wheelbase and upgraded infotainment

Mazda’s compact SUV receives a new‑generation refresh for the 2026 model year. The most noticeable changes are a 4‑inch longer wheelbase and a larger cargo capacity, now 33.7 cu‑ft (up from 29.1 cu‑ft) and expandable to 66.5 cu‑ft. Interior updates include a standard 15.6‑inch touchscreen on the top trim (12.9‑inch on lower grades) and a 10.25‑inch digital gauge display.

Mechanically, the CX‑5 retains its 2.5‑liter naturally aspirated I4 engine producing 187 hp and 186 lb‑ft of torque, paired with standard all‑wheel drive. Performance remains similar to the previous generation, with 0‑60 mph in about 8.5 seconds and a quarter‑mile time of 16.5 seconds at 84 mph. Fuel‑economy ratings are 24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined, equating to roughly 5.6 tons of CO₂ per year. A hybrid variant is slated for introduction in 2027, while the turbo model has been discontinued.
