Mazda updates CX-30 with new 2.5L engine and removes diesel option

Mazda has announced product improvements for the CX-30 compact crossover SUV, headlined by the introduction of a new 2.5-liter direct-injection gasoline engine, the e-SKYACTIV G 2.5. This new powertrain features a mild hybrid system and includes a balance shaft to reduce vibrations.

As part of this update, Mazda is discontinuing the SKYACTIV-D 1.8 diesel engine from the CX-30 lineup. The company cited the increasing difficulty and high development costs required to make small diesel engines compliant with upcoming, stricter emission regulations. This move follows a similar discontinuation of diesel options for the MAZDA3, signaling a shift toward gasoline-only lineups for these models.
