Giorgos Mazonakis death: Doctors arrested over clinic procedure FAST-MOVING

Two doctors have been arrested following the death of Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis, who suffered cardiac arrest during a plasmapheresis procedure at the Stem Cell clinic in Kolonaki, Athens. Investigators are examining significant discrepancies in the timeline provided by the medical staff. While doctors claimed the singer collapsed before the procedure began, machine software indicates the device had been operating for approximately 42 minutes.

Authorities are also investigating claims that Mazonakis was unconscious for roughly 1.5 hours before emergency services were contacted. The clinic is facing scrutiny regarding its licensing, as the Athens Medical Association noted the premises were registered for primary care rather than specialized procedures like plasmapheresis. Additionally, the AADE has launched a tax investigation into the clinic's financial records.

Further complications have emerged, including reports of a non-functional defibrillator on-site and potential attempts to delete patient files. The Greek Health Minister has noted that performing such procedures outside of a hospital setting is illegal. An autopsy is expected to provide definitive findings on the cause of death.
