McDonald's Japan to launch Plarail and Sumikko Gurashi Happy Sets

McDonald's Japan will launch two limited-time Happy Set toy programs starting September 11, 2026. The promotion features two popular brands: Plarail and Sumikko Gurashi.

The Plarail collection includes nine varieties of toys based on various train models, such as the 923 series Doctor Yellow, the D51 200 steam locomotive, and the E5 series Shinkansen Hayabusa. These toys feature interactive gimmicks, such as direction-changing levers and internal structural observations, to aid spatial recognition. Additionally, customers can use a QR code on the packaging to access an augmented reality (AR) driving game.

The Sumikko Gurashi collection consists of nine items, including bag charms featuring characters like Shirokuma, Tonkatsu, and Neko. These toys allow for creative decoration using included stickers.

On September 12 and 13, McDonald's will offer limited quantities of special bonuses: a ‘Plarail Special DVD 2026’ with Plarail sets and ‘Sumikko Gurashi Outing Stickers’ with Sumikko Gurashi sets.
