McDonald’s reports mixed Q3 results with global growth and US sales decline
McDonald’s reported third-quarter financial results showing a 1% increase in revenue to $7.16 billion and a 9% rise in net income to $2.5 billion. While global comparable sales grew by 1.5%, the company faced a 0.2% decline in US same-store sales, marking its first retreat since early 2025.
The decline in the US market was attributed to lower customer traffic as consumers face rising costs of living. To combat this, CEO Chris Kempczinski noted that the company is implementing a turnaround strategy called “NEXT” and testing new value-oriented meal bundles at approximately 1,900 US restaurants. These tests include mix-and-match and fixed-price options designed to attract price-sensitive customers.
Despite the domestic challenges, international markets provided significant support. Comparable sales rose in international operated markets, led by strong performance in Germany and Australia, though sales in France saw a decline. The company also noted that recent marketing efforts and promotional offers helped improve baseline traffic trends in September and October.
