McLaren aims to match Ferrari's upgrade pace, says team principal Zak Brown

McLaren has introduced fewer technical upgrades this season than rivals Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes, but team principal Zak Brown insists the British outfit is preparing an equivalent number of components. The team delayed the debut of an inverted rear‑wing originally slated for the Austrian Grand Prix after internal safety checks, and the part was also absent at Silverstone, with attention now on a possible introduction at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Ferrari, meanwhile, has already fitted several extensive upgrade packages to its SF‑26 car, allowing it to challenge Mercedes and contend for race wins. Brown praised the development work of Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes, saying, "Ferrari and Red Bull have done fantastic work on their upgrades," and added that McLaren will field the same amount of upgrades once they meet the team's standards.

Brown emphasized that the lower number of parts already on track does not reflect reduced development effort, noting the team will not install components until they are fully ready.
