McLaren completes 30-hour endurance test with new LMDh prototype

McLaren has completed a 30-hour endurance simulation with its new MCL-HY LMDh hybrid prototype. Developed in collaboration with Dallara, the test took place in July at the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Spain to simulate the distance covered during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This milestone marks the third comprehensive test of the vehicle, following previous sessions at Imola and Magny-Cours, and comes less than three months after the initial shakedown in Varano, Italy. James Barclay, Executive Director of McLaren Endurance Racing, reported that the test proceeded without major issues. He noted that while the team made brief stops to inspect components and prevent potential damage, they avoided lengthy garage stays, treating the simulation like a competitive race.

While the team has not disclosed the exact distance covered during the Aragón session, Barclay confirmed that the prototype had already completed the typical distance of a six-hour WEC race prior to this test. Recent testing has also continued with three days of driving at Silverstone.
