McNeese State defeats East Texas A&M 27-24

The McNeese State Cowboys secured their first Southland Conference win of the season with a 27-24 victory over East Texas A&M at Navarre Stadium. The win halts a recent losing streak for the Cowboys, who move to a 2-3 season record.

Omiri Wiggins led the McNeese rushing attack with 116 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Quarterback Jake Strong, returning to the starting lineup following an injury, completed 17 of 27 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown, while adding 34 yards on the ground.

East Texas A&M mounted a late comeback, cutting the lead to 27-24 following a 46-yard touchdown pass from Eric Rodriguez to Rayshawn Glover. McNeese attempted to run out the clock late in the game but failed to convert a fourth-down attempt at the East Texas A&M 20-yard line. The McNeese defense ultimately secured the win with a sack by Iy Adekoya during the Lions' final possession.
