McNeese State football quarterback transition

Overview

McNeese State head coach Matt Viator announced that starting quarterback Devin Lippold would miss the game against East Texas A&M due to a right wrist injury. As a result, Jake Strong was set to return to the starting position after previously missing three games with a shoulder injury.

Strong returned to the lineup and led the Cowboys to a 27-24 victory over East Texas A&M at Navarre Stadium. Strong completed 17 of 27 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. The win, fueled by a 116-yard rushing performance from Omiri Wiggins, marked the team’s first Southland Conference win of the season and improved their record to 2-3.
