Me Contro Te website goes offline following consumer rights lawsuit

The official website and online shop of the popular content creator duo Me Contro Te, composed of Luigi Calagna and Sofia Scalia, have been taken offline for what is described as “technical updates and optimization.” This suspension coincides with a legal challenge filed by the consumer rights association Consumerismo No Profit.

On September 14, Consumerismo No Profit filed an injunction with the Civil Court of Palermo against Mecontrote Srl. The association alleges unfair commercial practices targeting children and preadolescents. Specifically, the lawsuit claims the website and app fail to separate entertainment from commercial content, using aggressive calls to action like “Vai allo shop!” to direct young users toward Amazon affiliate links.

The association is also raising concerns regarding privacy protections for minors and the transparency of data processing. Consumerismo is seeking a court order to mandate a clear separation between content and advertising, the implementation of age verification systems, and the use of privacy disclosures written in language understandable to children. The first court hearing is scheduled for December 18 in Palermo.
