Measles cases fall in Michoacán and Edomex as Mexico steps up vaccination

The State of Mexico (Edomex) reported 342 measles cases this year, keeping it in sixth place nationally. No deaths have been linked to the disease in the state. Nationwide, health authorities confirmed 11,771 measles infections, an incidence of 8.76 cases per 100,000 people, and recorded 16 fatalities.

In Michoacán, health officials said there have been no new measles cases since May 29. The state has administered 1,457,633 vaccine doses, moving it from the third to the tenth spot in the national ranking of cases. Over 387,000 doses remain available at 364 health centers to maintain immunity.

The combined data show a slowdown in transmission as Mexico expands its vaccination campaign across affected regions.
