Pekan Raya Sumatera Utara 2026 attracts 10,000 visitors despite rain, features food stalls and banana export showcase

Around 10,000 visitors attended the eighth day of Pekan Raya Sumatera Utara (PRSU) 2026 in Medan despite heavy rain. Concertgoers watched performances by Raim Laode and Nufix, while participants in a contemporary dance competition traveled hours to showcase regional culture.

The Penang pavilion displayed a replica of the famous Nasi Kandar dish, with officials noting the real dish could be sold at future fairs. The booth also offered other Malaysian treats such as nasi lemak, roti canai, and tea tarik.

At the Tebing Tinggi pavilion, a bunch of jumbo Pisang Kepok Keling was exhibited. Local officials announced the export of nine tons of banana chips to Malaysia, valued at roughly Rp 270 million, highlighting the region’s growing agricultural trade.

Quotes included Raim Laode’s remark, “Rain doesn’t stop us – we keep having fun,” and the governor’s comment that the banana shipment “sends a strong message that North Sumatra’s agricultural products can compete internationally.”
