Medcare Hospital Sharjah launches Organ Transplant Centre
Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres has officially launched its Organ Transplant Centre following the successful completion of its first kidney transplant at Medcare Hospital Sharjah. This makes Medcare Hospital Sharjah the first private hospital to perform organ transplantation in the northern emirates.
The initial procedure involved a living donor kidney transplant for an international patient who traveled to the UAE specifically for the surgery. The donor nephrectomy was conducted using robotic technology to minimize scarring.
Medcare aims to expand its clinical ecosystem to include various organ transplant services in the future, serving patients within the UAE, the wider region, and international markets. The program was established with support from the Sharjah Health Authority and the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
