Media training in Mali and leadership changes in Senegal
In Mali, the Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Maladie (CANAM) partnered with the Mutuelle Générale de Solidarité de la Presse (MUGESPRESSE) to hold a capacity-building workshop for media professionals at the National Museum of Bamako. The training aims to provide journalists with in-depth knowledge regarding the mechanisms and challenges of the Universal Health Insurance Scheme (RAMU), enabling them to produce clear and reliable information for the public.
CANAM Director General, Brigadier General Boubacar Dembélé, emphasized that journalists should go beyond relaying institutional information to explain, analyze, and communicate public concerns regarding the health scheme. The workshop included participation from the President of MUGESPRESSE, Ali Diarra, and the President of the Maison de la Presse, Bandiougou Danté.
In Senegal, a leadership change has occurred at the Maison de la Presse ‘Babacar Touré’. Following a Council of Ministers meeting on September 10, 2026, Sambou Biagui was replaced as Director General by Badara Pouye. Pouye, who holds a Master’s degree in Communication, succeeds Biagui as part of a broader government initiative to renew leadership across various public structures.
