Medical Association of Athens demands suspension of Digital Repository mandate
The Medical Association of Athens (ISA) has formally requested an immediate suspension of the mandatory registration of diagnostic test results into the new Digital Repository. The association sent a letter to the administrator of EOPYY, citing significant technical and operational deficiencies in the new system.
Key concerns raised by the ISA include difficulties in connecting laboratory information systems with the IDIKA platform, issues regarding the coding of examinations, and risks to data integrity. The association warns that without sufficient testing and operational readiness, the system could lead to errors, unjustified payment cuts, or delays in reimbursements for healthcare providers.
To resolve these issues, the ISA has proposed three conditions: a working meeting with EOPYY, IDIKA, and POSIPY to map out problems and establish a realistic timeline; the suspension of mandatory entries until technical readiness is confirmed; and the creation of a joint working group involving the Ministry of Health and professional medical unions. ISA President G. Patoulis stated that while the association supports digital modernization, "no new procedure can be implemented without first ensuring technical readiness, functionality, and the substantial informing of the people called upon to implement it."
