Medical Association of Athens issues medical complaint guidelines
The Medical Association of Athens has released detailed guidelines to inform citizens on the correct procedures and competent authorities for submitting complaints regarding medical services.
The association specifies that the appropriate body depends on the nature of the issue:
• Local Medical Associations: For medical errors, unethical behavior, or violations of primary healthcare legislation by doctors or companies. • National Transparency Authority (EAD): For legal violations committed by medical professionals, companies, or other non-medical persons. • General Secretariat for Commerce and Consumer Protection: For overcharging and misleading medical advertising. • Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE): For tax-related violations. • Hellenic Police and/or Prosecutor's Office: For illegal medical practice and other criminal offenses.
Complaints regarding doctors or primary healthcare companies within the jurisdiction of the Medical Association of Athens must be submitted in writing and can be made either by name or anonymously.
