Medical campaigns target cleft lip and palate surgeries in Peru and Argentina

Medical institutions in Peru and Argentina are conducting specialized surgical campaigns to treat children with cleft lip and palate.

In Peru, the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño (INSN) in Breña has announced the ‘Sonrisatón’ campaign. Running from October 16 to 18, the initiative provides free surgery for children and adolescents aged 3 months to 17 years. The program serves patients with the Seguro Integral de Salud (SIS) as well as those from private clinics or other health providers. For families lacking insurance, the ‘Damas de Rojo’ of the INSN will cover surgical costs. Registration is open until October 15 via the INSN Breña outpatient service or through designated WhatsApp and telephone lines.

In Argentina, the Hospital de San Martín de los Andes is hosting a high-complexity surgical session focused on cleft lip and alveolar palate (FLAP) malformations. Led by Dr. Mariano Ojeda and a multidisciplinary team of pediatric surgeons and specialists, the session aims to provide specialized care locally, reducing the need for patients to travel to other medical centers for complex procedures.
