Medical facilities in Chile and Peru upgrade surgical capabilities

Medical facilities in Chile and Peru are enhancing their surgical and diagnostic capabilities through new equipment and permanent service implementations.

In Quellón, Chile, the Hospital de Quellón has launched its Endoscopy Unit as a permanent service. Previously, endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures were conducted primarily through temporary medical rounds. Led by Chief of Surgery Dr. Carlos Mendoza, the hospital aims to perform between 40 and 50 procedures monthly to reduce local waiting lists for upper digestive endoscopies and colonoscopies.

In Huaraz, Peru, the Hospital Víctor Ramos Guardia has integrated a 4K laparoscopy tower and high-end surgical instruments provided by the private sector. This equipment, including Karl Storz technology, is intended to strengthen the hospital's surgical center by enabling minimally invasive procedures with high-definition video collection. The upgrade also includes the addition of anesthesia machines and a transport incubator to improve patient recovery and specialized care.
