Medical professionals in Vietnam treat complex respiratory and vascular cases

Medical professionals in Vietnam have successfully treated two patients with complex conditions. At Xuyen A General Hospital, doctors identified a fish bone lodged in the bronchus of a 70-year-old man. The patient had suffered from persistent coughing, wheezing, and a weight loss of nearly 20 kg after an aspiration incident earlier in the year. Following a bronchoscopy, the foreign object was removed, and the patient's condition stabilized.

Separately, at Gia Dinh General Hospital, surgeons treated a 71-year-old man suffering from severe leg pain and numbness after walking only 20 meters. Diagnostic imaging revealed bilateral superficial femoral artery occlusions, with the right side exceeding 30 cm. The medical team performed a successful bypass surgery using a saphenous vein graft to restore blood flow to the lower limb, while also noting coronary artery stenosis that required careful surgical management.
