Medical procedures in Vietnam
Overview
Medical professionals in Vietnam have reported successful outcomes for several patients presenting with complex respiratory and vascular conditions.
In late August, doctors at Xuyen A General Hospital removed a fish bone from the bronchus of a 70-year-old man, stabilizing him after a period of persistent coughing and significant weight loss. Concurrently, surgeons at Gia Dinh General Hospital performed a bypass surgery using a saphenous vein graft to treat a 71-year-old man suffering from bilateral superficial femoral artery occlusions.
By mid-September, surgeons at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases addressed a critical case involving a 54-year-old man. The patient presented with a massive lung abscess and respiratory distress. A multidisciplinary team discovered the abscess was caused by a fistula from the right colon that had breached the diaphragm. Surgeons successfully drained the abscess and repaired both the diaphragm and the intestinal fistula, leading to the patient’s recovery.
