Medical professionals in Vietnam treat elderly patients for tumors and artery blockages

Medical professionals in Vietnam have successfully treated two elderly patients for serious conditions involving tumors and vascular blockages.

At Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, an 82-year-old woman was diagnosed with nine bladder tumors after experiencing hematuria for one month. Doctors performed a transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT), a minimally invasive procedure that avoids abdominal incisions. The surgery successfully removed three large tumors (2-3 cm) and six smaller ones (5-10 mm), resulting in stable health and clear urine.

Separately, at Bai Chay Hospital in Quang Ninh, a 79-year-old man presenting with blurred vision and headaches was found to have 90% stenosis in his right internal carotid artery and a complete blockage of his left common carotid artery. A medical team led by Dr. Giap Hung Manh performed an endovascular intervention, using a stent to dilate the narrowed artery and restore blood flow, mitigating the risk of stroke.
