Medical surgical advancements in Vietnam
Overview
Medical professionals in Vietnam have performed several complex surgeries to treat serious tumors and vascular conditions in elderly and middle-aged patients.
Initial reports highlighted successful minimally invasive procedures at Tam Anh General Hospital and Bai Chay Hospital. These included a transurethral resection of bladder tumors for an 82-year-old woman and an endovascular stent procedure to treat severe carotid artery stenosis in a 79-year-old man.
Subsequent medical interventions involved more invasive surgeries for advanced conditions. At Viet Duc University Hospital, surgeons performed a total bladder removal and urinary tract reconstruction for a 51-year-old man with late-stage bladder cancer. Additionally, at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital, a surgical team removed a rare Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) from the duodenum of a 66-year-old man to address critical gastrointestinal bleeding.
