Medical students volunteer at 70 health units across Greece

Approximately 195 medical students are volunteering this summer to support 70 health units across remote and island regions in Greece. The program, titled ‘Medical Landing’, is organized by the Scientific Society of Greek Medical Students (EEFIE) and is currently in its 30th consecutive year.

Operating under the auspices of the 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 7th Health Regions, the initiative aims to meet increased medical care demands during the peak summer season. Participating students, who have completed at least one clinical year, work in 10-day shifts at various destinations, including tourist hubs and remote areas such as Mykonos, Paros, Corfu, and Chios.

General Coordinator Nikolaos Dokos noted that the program provides students with essential clinical experience by simulating the rural medical service they will perform after graduation. This allows them to practice clinical skills and understand the specific needs of local communities while addressing cases such as injuries and infections.
