Medical supply shortages reported in Israel and Palestine

Health authorities in Israel and Palestine are reporting critical shortages of essential medical supplies. In Israel, the Ministry of Health and the national emergency organization, MADA, have issued an urgent appeal for blood donations. The shortage is particularly acute for Type O blood, which is vital for surgeries, childbirth, and treating wounded military personnel. MADA has indicated that approximately 1,200 donors are required daily to maintain sufficient stocks.

Simultaneously, the Palestinian Ministry of Health has warned of an unprecedented crisis regarding medicines and laboratory materials. The ministry reported that over 726 pharmaceutical items have reached zero stock in central warehouses, including critical drugs for cancer and chronic diseases. Officials stated that the lives of over 4,000 cancer patients and thousands of dialysis patients are at direct risk. The ministry attributed the worsening situation to the withholding of Palestinian clearance funds and has called on the international community and the United Nations to intervene.
