Medtronic launches new diabetes management technologies in Italy

Medtronic has introduced two new diabetes management technologies in Italy: the MiniMed 780G system and the MiniMed Go system. These innovations were presented during a conference in Milan.

The MiniMed 780G system integrates with the Instinct sensor, produced by Abbott specifically for MiniMed technologies. This system utilizes the SmartGuard algorithm to automate insulin delivery and features Meal Detection technology to mitigate post-prandial glucose spikes caused by delayed or underestimated carbohydrate dosing. Clinical data indicates that users can achieve a Time in Range (TIR) of 80%, with nocturnal TIR reaching 91%.

The MiniMed Go system is designed for individuals using multiple daily injections. It combines real-time continuous glucose monitoring data with insulin pen dose tracking via the InPen smart pen. The platform provides alerts for missed doses or rising glucose levels. While previously compatible with the 7-day Simplera sensor, it is now also compatible with the 15-day Instinct Go sensor.
