Medtronic has expanded its diabetes management technology offerings across Europe. The rollout began with the launch of the MiniMed 670G hybrid closed-loop insulin pump system, initially covering the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, and Slovenia, with further planned expansions into Finland and Denmark.

In Italy, Medtronic has introduced the MiniMed 780G and MiniMed Go systems. Presented at a conference in Milan, the 780G system utilizes the SmartGuard algorithm and Meal Detection technology to automate insulin delivery, integrating with the Abbott-produced Instinct sensor. Clinical data indicates users can achieve a Time in Range (TIR) of 80%, with nocturnal TIR reaching 91%.

The MiniMed Go system is designed for individuals using multiple daily injections, combining continuous glucose monitoring with insulin pen dose tracking via the InPen smart pen. While previously compatible with the 7-day Simplera sensor, it is now also compatible with the 15-day Instinct Go sensor.

Medtronic Diabetes stated that the goal of these automated solutions is to provide patients with more time and a better quality of life. Riccardo Candido, President of Fondazione AMD, noted that such innovations offer greater autonomy and freedom for daily activities, including high-level sports.
