Meghalaya electoral roll revision hits 98% coverage

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar pledged that no Indian citizen will be omitted from the electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Meghalaya, a state that shares a 443‑km border with Bangladesh. Election officials reported that more than 2.3 million enumeration forms have been distributed, covering 98.17 % of the state's electorate. Digitisation efforts have reached 62.15 % overall, with West Khasi Hills leading at 79.86 %. The process identified 53,908 voters under absentee, shifted, death and duplicate categories, which will be verified according to the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. The Chief Electoral Officer also highlighted the deployment of 892 Booth Level Agents to assist voters and ensure accurate roll updates.
