Meghalaya students scramble for NEET exam logistics as state celebrates IIT Bombay admission

Around 3,200 candidates from Meghalaya are confronting last‑minute challenges arranging travel, lodging and funds to reach the NEET re‑exam centres in Shillong and Tura on June 21. The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress warned that many rural families are being left without support, accusing the state government of neglect despite promises of new medical colleges. MPYC president Timjim Momin highlighted the difficulty for students from the Garo, Khasi and Jaintia Hills, urging immediate assistance.

In a separate achievement, 17‑year‑old Richbhalang Kharshiing from the state earned an All India Rank of 2626 (State Rank 15) in the JEE Advanced 2026, securing a seat in the Computer Science and Engineering programme at IIT Bombay. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma praised the result as a source of pride for Meghalaya and urged the young scholar to continue excelling.
