Vice President Radhakrishnan tours Northeast India

Indian Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan is conducting a four-day tour of Northeast India, visiting Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh from September 6 to 9.

In Assam, Radhakrishnan attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Geetanagar College and the convocation of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences. During these engagements, he emphasized the role of higher education in nation-building, urged students to avoid drugs and social media addiction, and highlighted the expansion of healthcare infrastructure in the region.

In Meghalaya, the Vice President is scheduled to lay the foundation stones for five major infrastructure projects totaling approximately Rs 1,011 crore. These include the New Shillong Water Supply Scheme Phase-II, a 110-metre bridge over the Umngot River, a 13.5 km road from Umsen to Barapathar, a 30-bedded AYUSH facility, and a new electrical substation. These projects aim to improve water security, road connectivity, and healthcare access for hundreds of thousands of residents.
