Meghna Gulzar discusses storytelling for upcoming film Daayra

Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar has shared insights into her creative process during promotions for her upcoming crime thriller, ‘Daayra’. Gulzar stated that her primary inspiration is life itself, noting that she draws heavily from non-fiction and her academic background in sociology to maintain a social awareness that informs her storytelling.

‘Daayra’ stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is described as a socially grounded narrative exploring justice, power, and systemic grey zones. While the two lead characters approach a specific case from different angles, Gulzar clarified that they are not on opposite ends of a spectrum, but rather exist within the same world of law enforcement and the police force.
