Megyn Kelly faces backlash over Christina Applegate MS comments

American commentator Megyn Kelly has drawn significant criticism from public figures following her remarks regarding actress Christina Applegate’s health. During an episode of ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’, Kelly suggested that Applegate had created a ‘cottage industry’ out of her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis and accused her of leading followers on a ‘wild goose chase’ after Applegate revealed her doctor might have misdiagnosed her.

Applegate, who has lived with the diagnosis since 2021, explained on her podcast ‘Messy’ that while the diagnosis is being reconsidered, her debilitating physical symptoms persist, leaving her searching for answers.

Critics including actress Melissa Gilbert and former Fox News colleague Janice Dean have rebuked Kelly. Dean, who has lived with MS for over 20 years, described Kelly’s comments as ‘disgusting’. Other critics, including ‘The View’ hosts, have also weighed in on the controversy. Representatives for both Kelly and Applegate have declined to comment.
