Mehdi al-Mashat addresses Yemeni resistance to Saudi blockade

Mehdi al-Mashat, President of the Supreme Political Council, delivered a speech to the Yemeni people and the Islamic nation marking over 100 days of renewed escalation. He asserted that twelve years of Saudi-led military action and economic blockades have failed to break the Yemeni will, noting that defense capabilities have established a new reality of deterrence.

Al-Mashat criticized the Saudi government for reneging on the 2022 de-escalation understandings, which included a permanent ceasefire, lifting the blockade, paying salaries, and opening ports. He claimed that Saudi Arabia has instead tightened economic restrictions and increased military mobilization, allegedly under direction from the United States and Israel, as a response to Yemen's support for Gaza.

The President emphasized that despite the massive humanitarian crisis and infrastructure destruction since the start of the conflict in March 2015, the Yemeni people remain committed to their sovereignty and national resources. He welcomed all fair and just efforts aimed at ending the blockade and addressing the humanitarian situation in accordance with international principles.
