Mel Maia and Cauã Reymond begin filming Avenida Brasil 2

Actors Mel Maia and Cauã Reymond have commenced filming for 'Avenida Brasil 2', a sequel to the successful 2012 telenovela. The new production, written by João Emanuel Carneiro, is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.

In the upcoming plot, Maia and Reymond will portray characters involved in a romantic relationship. Maia, who played the child version of the protagonist Rita (later Nina) in the original series, returns to the franchise at age 22 in a different role. This production also marks her return to Globo after three years.

Reymond, returning to his role as Jorginho 14 years after the original series concluded, shared glimpses of the production process, including the use of character-specific details like silver necklaces and tattoos. While maintaining secrecy regarding specific plot points, the actors have described the new storyline as having unexpected twists and a fast-paced rhythm.
