Melikgazi Municipality begins park construction in Yıldırım Beyazıt

Melikgazi Municipality has completed the demolition of nine dilapidated shanties (gecekondu) in the Yıldırım Beyazıt neighborhood to make way for a modern park area. This project is part of a broader urban transformation initiative being carried out across 11 different regions within the municipality.

Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu inspected the site and noted that the demolitions were conducted following agreements with the property owners. He highlighted that previous urban renewal efforts in the area included the removal of hundreds of structures to open Dr. Sami İpek Boulevard and Şükran Street.

In addition to the new park, the municipality has previously delivered two schools, a mosque, and a Quran course to the district, with construction on two additional schools currently underway. The cleared area in Yıldırım Beyazıt is expected to be converted into a high-quality social space for local residents in the near future.
