Memphis Grizzlies waive guard Jordan Hawkins

The Memphis Grizzlies have mutually agreed to waive guard Jordan Hawkins, allowing the former 2023 lottery pick to enter free agency once he clears waivers. The move comes just weeks after the Grizzlies acquired Hawkins from the New Orleans Pelicans in a September trade.

Despite the roster move, Memphis will remain responsible for Hawkins’ full salary of approximately $7 million for the upcoming season. The team maintains significant cap flexibility, remaining well below the luxury tax line.

Hawkins, a former standout at UConn, has struggled to make a major impact at the NBA level, averaging 9.2 points per game over his first two seasons before seeing reduced playing time in the 2025/26 season. The Grizzlies are currently in a rebuilding phase following the offseason trades of Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jared Jackson Jr.
