Egypt faces extreme heat and rising sea waves on July 14, 2026

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecast hot, humid conditions across the country on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. Temperatures are expected to reach 35 °C in Cairo with a heat‑index of 37 °C, while Aswan may see a maximum of 42 °C and a felt temperature of 44 °C. High humidity will amplify the heat, especially in the south, where daytime highs can feel above 40 °C.

Wind speeds of 30‑45 km/h will provide some night‑time relief but may stir sand and dust in the western desert. Fog is likely between 04:00‑08:00 on major roads in the north, the Nile Delta and parts of the Sinai, with occasional light drizzle that should not affect travel.

On the Mediterranean coast, the authority warned of increased wave heights of 1.5‑2.5 m at beaches such as Alexandria, El Alamein, Mersa Matruh and Port Said, and urged the public to follow safety instructions and avoid swimming when warning flags are raised.

Citizens were advised to stay hydrated, limit exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours, wear light cotton clothing, and seek well‑ventilated areas, especially the elderly, children and those with chronic illnesses.
