Mendoza Amezcua proposes tax incentives for Mexican cultural projects

Senator Virgilio Mendoza Amezcua has proposed a reform to the Income Tax Law (ISR) to introduce fiscal incentives for private investment in cultural projects. The initiative aims to allow legal entities to claim a tax deduction of up to 10 percent on expenses related to the implementation, promotion, research, training, and creation of authorized cultural projects.

Mendoza Amezcua noted that the cultural sector faces structural challenges due to insufficient public resources and limited financing. He highlighted that the 2025 and 2026 federal budget for culture has seen significant reductions, impacting the institutional capacity to guarantee cultural rights. The proposal seeks to strengthen the sustainability of the sector without increasing pressure on the public treasury.
