Mendoza City launches professional driver training program
The Municipality of Mendoza City and the Mendoza Taxi Owners Association (APROTAM) have signed a collaboration agreement to launch a training and labor insertion program for professional drivers. The initiative aims to provide up to 150 professional licenses to participants, focusing on improving passenger transport services and professionalizing the sector.
The program is specifically designed to create employment opportunities for residents aged 45 and older, a demographic that often faces barriers in the labor market. Additionally, officials have set a goal for at least half of the new licenses to be awarded to women.
Training is scheduled to begin in October and will be organized into two levels. The first level covers passenger service, service management, professional driving, safety, prevention, and financial education. The second level will include specialized training in tourism to enable drivers to act as local tourism hosts. The curriculum will also incorporate modern tools, such as the application of artificial intelligence to daily driving tasks.
